Grigory is widely respected as one of Russia’s most experienced corporate lawyers. He advises on the full range of corporate transactions, including private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations and commercial contracts. He has particular expertise in advising international and domestic businesses on establishing and implementing joint ventures.

Grigory is renowned for his knowledge of the oil and gas sector and has been involved in the most significant energy deals in Russia.

  • Oil & gas investment JV: advising a Russian oil company on its 50:50 joint venture with an international oil major in relation to investing into technological projects in Europe and Asia.
  • Acquisition of an interest in Arctic LNG: advising Total on the acquisition of a 10% interest in the Arctic LNG 2 project and related shareholders arrangements.
  • Various Rosneft projects: advising Rosneft on a number of its projects in Russia and abroad, including its joint ventures with KAR Group, Eni, Statoil and ExxonMobil, as well as numerous upstream and downstream M&A transactions.
  • Acquisition of the Baimskaya project: advising KAZ Minerals on the US$900m acquisition of the Baimskaya copper and gold project in the Chukotka region of Russia, one of the world’s most significant undeveloped copper assets, from a consortium of Russian investors.
  • Sale of shares in the New Stream Group: advising the New Stream Group on the sale of 50% of shares in the New Stream Group holding companies to ARETI Gasenergy and formation of a 50:50 joint venture.
  • Sale of Donskoy Tabak: advising the Agrokom Group on the RUB 90bn disposal of the 100% stake in the Donskoy Tabak Group to Japan Tobacco International.

Professional experience

Grigory regularly speaks at conferences on the subject of M&A and sits on M&A panels, including at events organised by the International Legal Forum, St. Petersburg, and by the International Bar Association.
