John is a partner in the Global Energy & Infrastructure Group and has over 20 years of experience. During this time, he has specialised in advising sponsors, equity investors, lenders (capital markets and commercial debt), host governments and contractors on a wide range of renewable and other power transactions and regulatory matters. He is co-head of Linklaters’ Global Energy & Utilities sector and leads the Global Renewables Practice.

  • investors on the acquisition and financing of the Race Bank Westermost Rough and Gunfleet Sands offshore wind projects and on subsequent divestments
  • TerraForm Power, Inc on the sale of its 365MW UK solar portfolio
  • lenders on the construction financing of the 160MW Tellenes onshore wind farm in Norway
  • the sponsors on the financing of the 402MW Dudgeon offshore wind farm, and on its refinancing
  • the lenders on the financing of Lincs offshore wind farm 
  • Sponsors or lenders on first-in-country renewable energy transactions in Turkey, Romania, Cape Verde, Zambia and Serbia
  • the investor on its acquisition of 49% of Ormonde Energy 
  • National Grid Electricity Transmission on all aspects of its role as the Delivery Body for Electricity Market Reform, including on drafting the UK Capacity Market Rules
