Overview

Kirsty is a banking partner who leads the management of knowledge and learning for Linklaters’ international banking practice.

Kirsty has extensive experience in banking law and a wide range of types of loan financing, including investment grade lending, leveraged finance, real estate finance, developing markets and debt restructuring. She is a member of many committees of the Loan Market Association (LMA), which represents the syndicated loan market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Kirsty writes thought leadership reports on high level issues affecting the bank sector and contributes to periodicals on topics relevant to the loan markets.

Kirsty leads the development of innovative products for the delivery of legal advice and documentation. These include Term Sheet Generator and Leveraged Term Sheet Generator, an online service for producing term sheets recognised as “Stand-out” by the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards. She developed Linklaters’ Banking App, providing easy access to legal and market analysis on topical issues across loan products.

Work highlights

Kirsty has led on many banking knowledge and learning initiatives. These include:

  • commenting on many LMA/wider market consultations and changes to LMA documents, including recently the LMA investment grade, and developing markets documents, Brexit-related guidance and global interest rate reform developments 
  • developing knowledge and learning for Linklaters’ global loans, leveraged finance, real estate finance, debt restructuring and loan portfolio transactions practices
  • writing thought leadership reports on the European Central Bank’s asset quality review, the European loan portfolio market and the European LBO loans “wall of debt”
  • writing articles on topical issues relevant to the loan markets, including recently the implications of Brexit for loan products and the growing role of unitranche facilities in the European loan market
  • leading the development of document automation products for Linklaters’ international banking practice, including Term Sheet Generator and Leveraged Term Sheet Generator
  • providing regular global transactional advice to Linklaters’ finance practice

Education and qualifications

Kirsty holds a degree in Classics (B.A., M.A.) from Oxford University, where she studied at St. Hilda’s College.
