Lorna is head of the firm’s Investment Funds Group in New York. She focuses on advising international asset managers on the establishment, operation and regulation of private fund products across the alternative fund spectrum including private equity, infrastructure, private credit, distressed debt and other products in the illiquid closed-end fund space, hedge funds and funds of funds.

Lorna’s practice also has an emphasis on the development of tailored investment platforms and structured solutions for strategic institutional investors. Lorna is frequently involved in corporate transactions in the sector and also advises on management company formations, management team spin-outs, acquisitions of asset managers, seeding/start-up financing deals, joint ventures, private fund interest portfolio sales and co-investments.

Work highlights

Recent experience includes:

  • developing infrastructure, capital solutions and loan origination platforms for a leading global asset manager that has to date raised in excess of US$12bn
  • advising a Canadian pension plan on a seed investment in an alternative fund manager spin-out
  • negotiating over US$10bn of co-investments on behalf of a leading private equity fund sponsor
  • providing ongoing representation of hedge fund access products offered by an international banking group

Professional experience

Lorna initially qualified as a solicitor in Ireland. Prior to joining Linklaters in 2005, Lorna also practiced in London and New York as an associate with a major U.S. law firm and is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and admitted to the New York bar.

Education

Lorna holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (Euro Legal Studies) degree from University College Dublin (Université de Rouen).
