Alternating between the firm’s Frankfurt and Munich offices, Michaela specialises in finance law, including asset-based finance, syndicated and bilateral lending and acquisition finance, with a focus on real estate finance.

Michaela leads the German real estate finance practice and until 2016 was head of the firm’s Real Estate sector.

Michaela has been based in our Munich, Frankfurt and Berlin offices during her career and also completed a secondment to the firm’s London office.

Work highlights

Michaela has led on many major real estate finance transactions. These include advising:

  • Blackstone on the acquisition of five cross-border logistics portfolios in Germany and on the sale of the logistics platform Logicor with a value of over €12bn
  • ING Bank in relation to the acquisition financing of a trophy building (Commerzbank Tower) in Frankfurt am Main
  • CBRE Global Investors in relation to a refinancing of the acquisition of two properties in Düsseldorf
  • BlackRock and Highbridge Principal Strategies (UK) as mezzanine lenders as part of the senior/mezzanine refinancing of a real estate financing
  • an international debt investor on the financing of an acquisition of a hotel portfolio and various Debt-Funds together with Direct Lending and Mezzanine financings
  • a Luxembourg based investment company in connection with the tranching of a €220m loan under an existing facility agreement into a separate senior facility and a mezzanine facility

Professional experience

Michaela occasionally writes on the subject of real estate finance law. Her articles include:

Education and qualifications

Michaela studied law at Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich.

She speaks German and English.
