Overview

Paula Czyż is an attorney at law. She has 10 years of experience working for clients from various sectors, mainly banking and telecommunications. She has participated in numerous court proceedings, a significant part of which have been competition and consumer protection cases, including appeals against decisions of the President of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection, as well as private enforcement proceedings. She has extensive experience in arbitration and class actions.

  • Orange Polska: representing in a precedent-setting case involving a lawsuit brought by a competitor, P4 sp. z o.o. against Orange Polska S.A., T-Mobile Polska S.A. and Polkomtel sp. z o.o. for compensation in connection with accusing Orange Polska S.A., T-Mobile Polska S.A. and Polkomtel sp. z o.o. of abuse of their collective dominant position in the markets for mobile telephony.
  • BNP Paribas Bank Polska: representing in a high profile class action proceedings commenced by a group of over 50 ex-clients of Amber Gold.
  • DSI Schum Chemie: advising in relation to the private enforcement proceedings brought by two mining companies.
  • Kronospan Mielec and Kronospan Szczecinek: representing in appeal proceedings before the Court for the Protection of Competition and Consumers (SOKiK) against a decision by the Polish Competition Authority on allegedly restrictive horizontal agreements.
  • The leading owner and operator of shopping centers in Poland: advising in arbitration proceedings in Poland under the Rules of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). The claims against the client are made in connection with an alleged extraordinary change of circumstances and grievous losses suffered by the claimant due to the unforeseen impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
  • A client from railway sector: advising in arbitration proceedings under the arbitration rules of the KIG Chamber of Commerce.

Education and qualifications

Paula is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, and the School of French Law run by Université de Poitiers and the School of American Law co-organised by the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
