Phil specialises in syndicated lending, event driven, acquisition and leveraged finance transactions across the credit spectrum. He acts for borrowers and lenders on their leading international and domestic finance matters.

Phil’s recent experience includes advising:

  • a large number of corporate Borrowers on their core and event related financing's, including CRH plc, Tate & Lyle, IG Group, William Hill, Jardine Lloyd Thompson, Travis Perkins, Sibanye Gold, Gold Fields, Bovis Homes and Countryside Properties
  • the lenders on the £220m secured acquisition facilities to The Restaurant Group for its acquisition of Wagamama
  • the lenders on the €1.3bn acquisition financing for Givaudan's public acquisition of Naturex of France
  • the lenders on the EUR740m acquisition facility and the issuing banks on the EUR1.1bn equity CNMV guarantee facility for DS Smith plc in relation to its public acquisition of Europac of Spain
  • the lenders on the €1.3bn acquisition facilities for Playtech’s public offer for Snaitech of Italy
  • the lenders in relation to the €1.240bn and US$500m post-IPO financing for Philips Lighting
  • Sibanye Gold on its US$2.7bn bridge financing for its U.S. public acquisition of Stillwater Mining
  • a number of the big 4 accounting firms on multiple financings, including a US$650m secured corporate facility
  • the lenders on multiple core financings for Jaguar Land Rover
  • the lenders on the £425m facilities for Old Mutual Wealth Management Limited
  • the lenders on TC Buenaventura's USD140m Columbian port secured infrastructure financing
  • HSBC on its acquisition financing support for S4 Capital on its acquisition of MediaMonks of the Netherlands and reverse takeover
  • the lenders on the latest £270m refinancing for TP ICAP plc
  • the lenders on the £200m acquisition facilities to Trinity Mirror plc for its acquisition of Express Newspapers from Northern & Shell
  • the lenders on the EUR720m and PLN342m debut syndicated financing for Can-Pack S.A.
