Linklaters will once again join the world’s largest platform for the global fintech community – ‘Singapore Fintech Festival 2019’.
The week-long festival, kicking off on 11th November 2019, will explore the trends and issues at the forefront of the fintech ecosystem. This year’s event line-up includes a Fintech conference & exhibition, a Global Fintech Hackcelerator Demo Day, Fintech Awards, Global Investor Summit and Innovation Lab Crawl.
This year, for the first time, the Singapore Fintech Festival will join forces with the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (“SWITCH”), to form a comprehensive showcase of innovative technologies across 5 key sectors: advanced manufacturing & engineering; urban solutions & sustainability; health & biomedical sciences; services & digital economy and fintech.

Monday 11 November
16.00 – The Impact of Tech in the Financial Services Industry
Emerging technologies are gaining acceptance and adoption in the region – but what risks and challenges are they encountering during implementation to the financial services industry?
Linklaters’ Financial Regulation partner, Peiying Chua, leads the panel.
16:30 – The Singapore Payment Services Act Workshop
The Payment Services Act 2019 will fundamentally refresh payment services regulations in Singapore with a single activity-based licensing framework for all payment services. But how will this new Act raise standards in the payments space and provide a conducive environment for innovative payment services in Singapore?
Peter Fairman, Linklaters’ Financial Regulation associate, will join panellists including the payments policy lead from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (“MAS”), to share his views.

17:00 – Token Awoken: Beyond the Horizon
Will cryptocurrencies become an accepted store of value and means of payments?
Joshua Ashley Klayman, Linklaters’ U.S. Head of Fintech and Blockchain & Digital Assets, joins the panel to share her thoughts on the prospects of cryptocurrencies and her vision of how a tokenised future could look.

16:00 – Security Token Offerings
Peiying Chua will share her views on security token offerings on a panel moderated by the Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA).
18:00 – Coded World: A Toolkit for Safe, Ethical and Lawful AI Projects
This 1-hour panel will draw upon the expertise of lawyers from our technology group, big tech enterprises, start-ups and investors, to provide practical guidance on how to make your artificial intelligence project a success.
Led by Linklaters’ TMT partner, Adrian Fisher, this panel will address a number of practical, legal and ethical issues surrounding artificial intelligence.

Thursday 14 November
16:00 – Corda Partner Day 2019
In partnership with enterprise blockchain technology company, R3, we examine the recent trends in digital asset management in Asia Pacific and discuss how blockchain affects the digitalisation of commodity and its supply chain. Discussions will also focus on the interactions between industries in pursuit of innovation and how digital assets and global trade can work together.

17:00 – Growing A Tech Startup from Seed to Exit
An insider panel of founders, investors, executives and lawyers will discuss the unique journey from seed to magical “liquidity event”, drawing on their experiences as founders in various stages of growth, providing us with an insight to the perspective of a leading venture capital investor.
