Responses to the CNMV position ban

As a measure to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on securities markets, on Monday the Spanish securities and market regulator, CNMV, banned transactions in Spanish shares involving the creation of or increase in net short positions. The ban applies for one month to shares listed on Spanish trading venues (Spain’s official stock exchanges and alternative investment market, MAB) for which the CNMV is the competent authority. This follows similar measures by other regulators, including Italy and France.
