UK Pensions - Government to proceed with proposals to strengthen the Pensions Regulator's powers
Following last year’s consultation on strengthening the Pensions Regulator’s powers, the government has now published its response. This confirms that the government will be proceeding with most of its proposals, including changes to the anti-avoidance regime, the introduction of punitive fines and criminal sanctions, and the new declaration of intent. The impact on corporate transactions could be far-reaching. Subject to Parliamentary time allowing, we are expecting the changes to be included in a Pensions Bill later in 2019.
