London Seminar Programme - UK ring-fencing: implementation and market impact
A decade on from the financial crisis, the UK ring-fencing rules come into force on 1 January 2019. These ring-fencing rules, intended to ensure the continuity of core banking services and reduce systemic contagion risk in the UK banking sector, have required relevant UK banking groups to radically reshape their businesses and corporate structures, and the way they deal with counterparties both outside and inside their groups.
In this session, we will:
- consider the origins of the ring-fencing rules and to whom the rules apply
- give a high-level introduction to the ring-fencing legislation, regulation and regulatory guidance
- consider the likely impact on UK banking groups
- explain why the ring-fencing rules are relevant to you
This seminar will be of interest to:
UK banking groups and their counterparties.
