Pensions Ombudsman Focus 50th Edition
Welcome to the 50th edition of the Pensions Ombudsman Focus for the period to March 2016.
This edition comments on two determinations, with different outcomes, that consider the provision of incorrect information by the scheme and reliance on it by the member. It is interesting to see in what circumstances the Ombudsman will and will not require a scheme to honour the amount incorrectly quoted. We also comment on a case that shows the importance of actioning a transfer promptly and providing clear and timely information if there is a problem doing so.
