Linklaters and Widyawan & Partners were proud be the Legal Associate Sponsor of the 2018 FT AIIB Infrastructure Dialogues

On 28 August, Linklaters and Widyawan & Partners (W&P) attended the 2018 FT AIIB Infrastructure Dialogues dinner in Jakarta, where we were proud to be the Legal Associate Sponsor. Linklaters Partner, David Holme was in attendance, together with Senior Partner, Widyawan and Counsel, Made Satwika from Widyawan & Partners.

With Indonesia looking to boost its economic growth with a billion dollar infrastructure spending drive, the Financial Times and AIIB invited an expert panel of speakers to discuss how we can close the infrastructure financing gap.

The session, while affirming that major steps had already been taken by the Government to create an enabling environment for public-private partnerships (PPPs), also acknowledged that ongoing issues around land acquisition, overlapping regulations and the lack of a solid project pipeline still continue to impact investor confidence in the market. Posing the question of how these challenges should be addressed and which sectors are proving to be the most bankable to investors and why, Linklaters Partner, David Holme was invited to join the panel and share his views on identifying the critical building blocks to enhance the bankability of PPP infrastructure financing in Indonesia.

The event was well-attended and included guests from ANZ, Deloitte and Standard Chartered Bank, as well as Jin Liqun, President Director of AIIB and Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister for Finance for the Government of Indonesia, who jointly delivered the keynote speech.
