Overview
William is a corporate partner who advises on the full range of corporate transactions including public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, equity and debt offerings as well as general corporate governance and other advisory work.
William is based in London but has spent time working in the firm’s Shanghai and New York offices. His key clients include UK and international corporates and funds and he regularly advises clients on transactions in developing countries and markets.
William has experience across a variety of sectors, including real estate, infrastructure, FIG, professional services, industrials, retail, and investment trusts.
William was also previously a member of the Linklaters Partnership Board, the governance body for the firm which is responsible for making strategic and other major decisions.

William has led on a number of high-profile deals. A selection of these include advising:
- Brookfield on its initially unrecommended takeover with QIA of Songbird Estates and Canary Wharf
- A UK listed company on an activist shareholder’s approach
- RB on its $16.5 billion acquisition of Mead Johnson
- Intu on its potential merger with Hammerson
- Barclays Bank on its £16.5bn acquisition of ING Direct UK
- various sovereign wealth and pension funds on their real estate and infrastructure investments throughout Europe
Professional experience
William was formerly chairman of Mosaic Clubhouse, a day care centre which provides support and opportunities to people living with a mental health condition.
He acts as a mentor within Linklaters and externally as part of the 30% club, a UK cross-business initiative committed to promoting gender diversity in the boardroom.
Education and qualifications
William studied both Classics and Law at Oxford.
