FSA publishes new rules for platforms

The FSA has published a policy statement confirming its new rules on platform regulation following a consultation in November 2010, aimed at regulating platforms in a way that would achieve the objectives of the FSA’s Retail Distribution Review. Whilst the FSA has for the most part adopted its proposals as set out in its November 2010 consultation, it has made some amendments to accommodate industry concerns, and the FSA has delayed finalising rules in relation to payments by providers to platforms, and cash rebates by platforms to consumers, the most controversial of the proposals.
