Belgian Publication on the Emerging European Framework for Capacity Mechanisms

As you know, the rise of capacity mechanisms and the challenges and opportunities they present for European electricity markets have gained momentum in recent years.

You may recall reading our thinking on these issues in a June 2014 report titled Capacity mechanisms. Reigniting Europe’s energy markets in June (available here) and our reporting on recent developments in a number of alerts (available here, here, here, here and here).

Building on these efforts, Lothar Van Driessche, an associate in our Brussels office, has contributed to 2015’s Jaarboek Energierecht with a chapter (in Dutch) on the economic background and the emerging EU legal framework for capacity mechanisms, taking into account developments until April 2015. Niels also presented on these issues at the launch of the book in Leuven on 13 May 2015.
