China’s cyber security regulation embarks on a critical path

Asia is seeing a push towards national governments asserting national internet sovereignty by introducing industry-agnostic cyber security laws. China recently followed this trend by publishing the Cyber Security Law (the “Law”) on 7 November 2016, following a public consultation which concluded in August 2016.
