Business Crime Quarterly Spring 2015
In this edition of Business Crime Quarterly we note the continued efforts of European governments to tackle both private and public bribery, with proposals for new anti-bribery laws in both Germany and Italy.
We report on the proposed adoption of plea bargaining and settlement procedures in Belgium and Luxembourg, at a time when doubts have been expressed about the efficacy of the deferred prosecution agreements procedure in the UK. In Australia and the US, the current focus is on extending jurisdiction to include bribery committed outside their territories, while in the UK, the SFO will be celebrating recent successful prosecutions of both individuals and companies for corruption offences.
