Pensions Ombudsman Focus October and November 2019 Edition
Welcome to the Pensions Ombudsman Focus for the period October – November 2019. In this edition, we look at five recent complaints to the Pensions Ombudsman, including:
- a decision allowing a member to appeal against a decision not to grant the benefits originally applied for, despite being granted alternative benefits.
- a decision directing trustees not to fetter their discretion in any way and to ensure they apply independent judgement based on the facts of the case, rather than formulaically applying pre-agreed policy.
