Overview
Kei has a wide range of experience advising on financial transactions including structured products and derivatives with various classes of underlying assets including credit, currencies, equities and funds. He also offers advice to financial institutions on regulatory compliance matters.
His experience includes advising international financial institution on a publicly offered fund involving highly complex structures and structured covered bond issuance. He worked for a global investment bank for five years, where he specialised in fund derivatives and indexed trading strategy linked products.
Work highlights
- the arrangers on the €20bn Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Covered Bond Programme in 2018. This was the first covered bond programme and issuance for Japan and was a first for the Japanese market.
- the arrangers on the €5bn Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank Covered Bond Programme in 2020. This was the second covered bond programme and issuance for Japan and was a second for the Japanese market.
- a Japanese trust bank on its establishment of the Euro Trust Bond Repackaging Programme in 2021. This was the first Repackaging Programme where the issuer is a Japanese law governed trust account.
- international banks and securities houses on remediation of their OTC derivatives and structured products due to LIBOR permanent discontinuation.
- an international securities house on their provision of structured products linked to its proprietary indexed strategy offered to Japanese retail investors.
Education and qualifications
Kei graduated from Sophia University Law School in 2007 and qualified in 2009.
