Overview

Nicolas joined Linklaters in 2001 where he heads the Luxembourg Corporate practice.

He advises fund managers and private equity houses on all Luxembourg corporate aspects, from fundraising and structuring to buyouts, public-to-private and portfolio assistance, including restructuring advice. 

His work encompasses M&A, real estate and infrastructure acquisitions, debt finance, management incentives as well as governance and regulatory matters for well-established and renowned international clients including Ardian, KKR, BC Partners and Montagu.

Nicolas is a board member of the Luxembourg Private Equity Association and Co-Chair of its Private Equity for Women committee.

Work highlights

Nicolas has acted for and advised among others: 

  • ARDIAN on (i) the structuring of ARDIAN Private Debt III and ARDIAN Infrastructure IV funds; (ii) the acquisition of an interest in the Ascendi Group (one of the leading operators of Portuguese motorways); (iii) the acquisition of VINCI’s stake in Indigo (previously called Vinci park)
  • Carlyle on (i) its acquisition of 60% stake in Logoplaste Group, Portuguese plastics packaging firm and (ii) the EUR 660m acquisition financing of Praesidiad (formerly the Betafence Group) from CVC Capital Partners
  • Centerbridge on the acquisition of Banca Farmafactoring from Apax. Banca Farmafactoring Banking Group operates in the factoring industry and is active in Italy, Spain and Portugal 
  • Permira and ARDIAN on the restructuring arising out of the IPO of the online travel company, eDreams ODIGEO

Professional experience

Nicolas is sitting on the board of the Luxembourg Private Equity Association (LPEA) and a number of its working groups. LPEA aims to promote Luxembourg as a jurisdiction where funds benefit from stability, flexibility and a depth of expertise of financial and legal service providers.

Education and qualifications

Nicolas holds a Postgraduate Degree in Law with honours with a specialisation in corporate law as well as a master’s in business law from the University Paris II Panthéon – Assas. He also holds a MBA from the ESSEC Graduate School of Management.
