Education and qualifications


Pim heads the Capital Markets practice in the firm’s Amsterdam office. With a Finance MBA and first-hand experience of investment banking, Pim acts for both underwriters and issuers in equity and debt capital markets transactions across the products’ range, from equity issuances via equity-linked and hybrid issues to debt products.

Pim also advises on financial regulation, including advising financial institutions on capital and other regulatory requirements.

Before becoming a lawyer, Pim worked for five years at the Dutch bank, MeesPierson, focusing on corporate finance and capital markets work.  

Work highlights

Pim has been lead counsel on a variety of capital markets deals. His experience includes advising:

  • the underwriters on the IPO of the Dutch insurance company, NN Group
  • ING on multiple debt issuances
  • the Dutch state on its debut and second U.S. dollar bond issuances
  • Rabobank as arrangers of the debt programme of Delta Lloyd, a Dutch insurance company
  • the underwriters on hybrid issues by KPN, a Dutch landline and mobile telecommunications company
  • the underwriters on the privatisation of PinkRoccade (later part of Getronics), an IT company
  • Julius Baer Group on the regulatory aspects of the acquisition of the Dutch part of Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s global wealth and investment management business

Professional experience

Pim is on the editorial board (redactie) of the Dutch Financial Law Review (Tijdschrift voor Financieel Recht), and teaches the Primary Markets module in the securities law course delivered by the post-academic Grotius Academy, Nijmegen.

Pim is a member of the Dutch Financial Law Association (Vereniging voor Financieel Recht).

Education and qualifications

Pim studied law at the University of Leiden and then for an MBA at the Rotterdam School of Management, including an exchange term at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

He speaks Dutch, English and German.
