Overview
Rúben Gameiro is an Associate in the Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations (LAI) department in Lisbon.
He has been developing his practice in the areas of litigation and arbitration, with a special emphasis on corporate litigation and banking & financial litigation, as well as corporate restructuring matters, both within and outside the insolvency scenario, representing national and international clients such as banks and corporate clients.
Rúben has been involved in all phases of contentious work, including pre-litigation negotiations, as well as in preventive work, such as due diligence exercises.
He furthermore has experience representing corporate clients in Commercial & Corporate Law litigation matters, such as shareholders disputes.
Professional experience
Rúben joined the Lisbon office in 2022 as Associate in its Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations department.
Rúben started his legal career in 2020 at the local firm APTS – Alves Pereira & Teixeira de Sousa RL. He then joined the Litigation & Arbitration department of SLCM – Serra Lopes, Cortes Martins & Associados, SP, RL, where he became an Associate in 2022, specialising in corporate restructuring and insolvency litigation and where he was also involved in pro-bono work, providing legal advice to private clients on civil law and civil litigation matters.
Education and qualifications
Rúben holds a Law Degree of the School of Law of the University of Coimbra (2020), having obtained many honours and awards due to his excellent grades, for completing the bachelor's degree in law with the highest final grade of his class, for being in the top 3 of students at the University of Coimbra and for having the highest grades in General Theory of Civil Law and Private International Law.
Rúben furthermore obtained a Postgraduate Degree in Restructuring & Insolvency Law of the School of Law of the University of Lisbon (2021), and he is currently attending the VII Post-Graduate Course in Arbitration Law at the same University.
He is a fully qualified Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2022.
Rúben speaks Portuguese and English.
