Overview

Jakub is a Polish qualified lawyer (adwokat). He has extensive experience in advising clients on energy and infrastructure matters in the road, rail, mining and RES sectors. Jakub’s focus is on the regulatory and environmental aspects of RES projects and transactions in the sector. For a number of years, he worked directly with Ørsted on a wide spectrum of matters relating to onshore and offshore wind farm projects. Seconded to Ørsted in 2011-2012, Jakub worked closely with the company on matters which included exploring the feasibility of offshore projects in Poland, as well as various regulatory, environmental and transaction matters in relation to onshore wind projects.

Work highlights

Jakub has led on many major energy and infrastructure projects. Recent highlights include advising:

  • A group of commercial lenders, ECAs and multilateral financial institutions: advising on the development and $5.2bn non-recourse green financing of the Baltic Power offshore wind farm, owned by ORLEN and Northland Power. This is the first offshore wind farm to reach financial close in Poland.

  • Mirova: advising on its investment in Sunly, an independent power producer, as part of a fundraising of a total amount of around EUR 200m. The raised capital will be used to develop Sunly's solar and wind portfolio in the Baltics and Poland.
  • Iberdrola: advising on the acquisition of 98MW of wind and solar projects in Poland. The seller was Augusta Energy, a joint venture between GreenVolt subsidiary, V-ridium Power Group and KGAL.
  • Mirova: advising on various acquisitions in Poland, including acquisition of a 132MW portfolio of three onshore wind projects, a 160MW portfolio of two onshore wind farm projects and a 149MW portfolio of six onshore wind farms, with 20MW in in operation and another 129MW under construction.
  • A Polish toll motorway concessionaire and its key sponsors: advising on the PPP investment in Poland with respect to a number of contentious and non-contentious concession-related issues, as well as financing (on the non-recourse terms).
  • EBRD: advising on the financing of the portfolio consisting of three solar farms and five onshore wind farms in Poland (including two operating and three greenfield projects).
