With almost 25 years’ experience as a lawyer, Claudia has developed a strong international compliance and regulatory experience including in data protection and information security as well as in IT procurement and outsourcing across various sectors. 

She also gained a strong in-house legal experience and perfectly understands group governance structure and stakeholders’ concerns when implementing compliance solutions.

Claudia has a wealth of experience dealing with various business stakeholders (such as IT, Procurement, Marketing, Social Partners, Audit, Risk Management and Operational teams).

Work highlights

Claudia has advised on a wide range of major transactions. Her recent transactions include advising:

  • An international financial and banking institution on the implementation of the GDPR and their broader banking compliance programme (e.g. KYC, AML, anti-bribery, monitoring of employees, screening of employees, data leakage project).
  • A Belgian bank in the drafting and negotiation of an outsourcing contract.
  • An international transport and logistics company with the drafting and negotiation of a telematics agreement involving the renting of hardware, licensing of software and related services to enable the company to benefit from a fleet management system for trailers relying on telematics technology.

Professional experience

Garance joined the TMT/IP practice as Associate in 2020. Before joining Linklaters, she worked at several other national and international law firms. She is a member of the Brussels Bar.

Claudia is chairing a DPOs Think Tank since October 2016, gathering DPOs from various industry sectors to benchmark and brainstorm on the GDPR and data related questions.

Claudia also teaches summer courses on European data protection at the European Academy of Law in Trier (Germany).

Education and qualifications

Claudia holds a master’s in Law from the University of Brussels and an LL.M from the Duke University School of Law.

She speaks French, Dutch and English.
