Linklaters appoints new Global Head of Banking

Linklaters has appointed Tony Bugg as Global Practice Head of Banking. He begins his four-year term with immediate effect. Tony succeeds Gideon Moore, who led the Banking practice since 2011 before being appointed as Linklaters’ Firmwide Managing Partner in November 2015.

A partner since 1998 and the Global Head of Restructuring and Insolvency (R&I) since 2006, Tony is one of the world’s leading restructuring and insolvency lawyers and under his leadership, the practice developed into a market leading group, involved in some of the most challenging and high profile restructuring and insolvencies. Tony continues to co-lead a team advising PwC as administrators of Lehman Brothers International (Europe), not only the firm’s biggest mandate but also the largest and most complex insolvency ever.

Michael Kent, Global Head of Finance & Projects, said: “Tony has led an extremely successful Restructuring & Insolvency group though the financial crisis, working on some of the biggest insolvencies we’ve ever seen, entrusted with the most challenging and market-defining transactions. This is a significant time in the development of our firm and I’m confident that our world-class banking practice will continue to thrive under his leadership.”
