Julie joined Linklaters in 2021 as part of the TMT/IP practice in Brussels.

As an associate in the TMT/IP practice, she advises national and international clients on complex matters in the fields of data protection and privacy, IT and intellectual property. She also has experience both in transactions and litigation proceedings in relation to data protection, IT and intellectual property matters.

Julie's most notable deals include:

TMT:

  • An automotive player: assisting with the processing of a complex data access request of one of its former employees in the context of an employment dispute.
  • A growing number of international clients in relation to large-scale global data breaches.
  • Degroof Petercam Asset Management (DPAM): advising on the development of an innovative investment product DPAM intends to provide to several players in the Benelux market and beyond as well as a related intuitive online investment simulation tool.
  • Agfa - Gevaert: advising on the outsourcing of their IT (ICS) department globally towards a third party supplier.

IP:

  •  A biotechnology company: advising on a framework collaboration agreement and a product distribution agreement covering a long-term strategic partnership.
  • An international engineering company: assisting with the drafting of a technology and intellectual property licensing agreement.
  • A consulting company: advising on the rebuttal of an IP claim in the framework of a court litigation case.
  • A technology company: advising on the IP/licensing and R&D provisions in relation to the auction sale of one of its businesses.

Education and qualifications

Julie graduated as a Master of Laws from the University of Ghent and holds an Advanced Master in Intellectual Property & ICT Law from the KU Leuven. She studied at the University of Copenhagen within the framework of the Erasmus programme.

Julie speaks Dutch and English and is a member of the Brussels Bar, Belgium.
