Wendy advises on a broad range of banking and financing transactions, including leveraged finance, acquisition finance, real estate finance and structured debt financing in Asia, with a geographic focus in China.

Having seconded to the firm’s Hong Kong SAR office previously, Wendy brings together extensive international experience and native Chinese cultural and linguistic capabilities, which ultimately benefits Linklaters’ multi-national client base.

Work highlights

Wendy’s recent acquisition finance transactions include advising:

  • Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, PingAn Bank, China Merchant Bank and Industrial Bank on the leveraged finance for the privatisation of 58.com
  • PingAn Bank on the acquisition finance of a sponsor’s purchase of share in China Biologic Products Holdings, a NASDAQ listed company prior to the privatization, and the subsequent leveraged finance for the privatization;
  • a consortium constituted by JD Fund and GIC on the financing for its acquisition of various logistics property companies from JD.com;
  • international and Chinese banks on the facilities for the acquisition of McDonald's mainland China and Hong Kong SAR business by a consortium formed by CITIC and Carlyle;
  • China Development Bank (CDB) on the acquisition finance for China National Offshore Oil Corporation's investment in Arctic II LNG in Russia;
  • Bank of China, China Construction Bank (CCB), Bank of Jiangsu, China Minsheng Banking Corp and Nanyang Commercial Bank as lenders on their financing in connection with an acquisition of an Italian leading biomedical equipment manufacturer by a consortium of seven Chinese investors;

Her recent financing transactions in energy and infrastructure include advising:

  • CDB on the facilities to a joint venture established by China Merchants, Djibouti Ports & Free Zones Authority and Port of Dalian for the development of free trade zone in Djibouti;
  • CDB, ICBC, CCB and a local bank syndicate arranged by Habib Bank on the facilities in connection with expansion of Thar Block II coal mining in Pakistan;
  • China Huadian Group in the refinancing of a coal-fired power plant in Indonesia. a qualified lawyer in New York State and holds the PRC bar qualification certificate

Education and qualifications

Wendy studied Law at the Zhejiang University. After graduation, she obtained Masters of Law at University of International Business and Economics and Columbia University.
