Overview

Peter is a specialist lawyer for employment law. He advises national and international companies on all questions of individual and collective employment law. This includes, in particular, advice on workforce changes, restructurings, staff reductions and questions of works constitution law as well as the negotiation of reconciliations of interests and social plans. One of his main areas of expertise is advising domestic and foreign credit institutions in connection with the Remuneration Ordinance for Institutions.

Peter has extensive experience in drafting contracts (employment and termination agreements) as well as changing working conditions with managing directors and board members. He also focuses on company pension schemes and social security law and represents clients' interests before labour courts throughout Germany.

Peter was recently ranked as one of the leading lawyers in Germany for Employment law by Handelsblatt (2021 and 2020).

  • Commerzbank: advising on the sale of a business division to the French bank Société Générale.
  • several major banks: extensive advice in connection with questions of structuring remuneration systems in accordance with the Remuneration Ordinance for Institutions (IVV).
  • serveral companies: advising on the closure of business operations in Germany, including negotiations on a reconciliation of interests and social plan, mass dismissal notification, and processing of legal disputes in court.
  • First State Investments: advising on the acquisition of Vopak Dupeg Terminal Hamburg GmbH (share deal) as well as in connection with management contracts.
  • two major Anglo-American international banks: advising on cross-border employee transfers, reorganisation measures, operational changes, works council matters, reconciliation of interests, company pension schemes and drafting employment contracts. 
  • Invacare: employment law advice in the case of IT outsourcing.
  • McKesson: advising on the joint venture agreement with Walgreens Boots Alliance.
  • MV Werften and their shareholders, the Genting Group: advising on the bridge loan from the German government's Economic Stabilisation Fund

Professional experience

Peter has been practicing law since 2007. He has worked at Linklaters since 2016 and was appointed Counsel in 2019.

Education and qualifications

Peter studied law at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe Universität, Frankfurt. He continued his education at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe Universität completing his Doctorate of Law in 2006.

He speaks German and English.
