Overview

Conrado co-heads the firm’s Latin America practice and is widely acknowledged as a leading lawyer advising on the continent’s landmark transactions.

Conrado acts for Latin American and international corporates and investment banks on all aspects of corporate finance, comprising mergers and acquisitions (including disposals of companies and assets), capital markets transactions (including advising issuers and underwriters on debt and equity securities placements in the U.S. and in the Euromarkets), and banking transactions (including bilateral, syndicated and structured banking facilities). In addition, Conrado has acted on several major debt restructurings and liability management exercises, notably in Argentina. He also has in-depth knowledge of the retail and energy sectors.

Conrado is an active participant in the firm’s Operational Intelligence Group, a global, multi-disciplinary team that helps the firm’s clients to effectively address the increasing risk, regulatory and governance challenges they face in their businesses.

Earlier in his career, Conrado served as in-house counsel with S.A. Genaro García, Buenos Aires, before joining Linklaters’ New York office in 1994. He co-led the firm’s Madrid office from 2007 to 2011 and the U.S. offices from 2011 to 2016.

Capital markets:

  • on several Argentine debt issues following the resolution of that country´s sovereign holdout litigation in April 2016, including debt issues by Arcor and Banco Macro and for the underwriters on debt issues by the City of Buenos Aires, the provinces of Mendoza, Salta and Entre Rios and companies including Cablevision, Genneia, Compañía General de Combustibles and Tarjeta Naranja
  • Chile's GNL Quintero on a US$1.1bn note issue
  • S.A.C.I. Falabella on a US$400m note issue to finance the acquisition of Maestro in Peru


Bank lending:

  • lenders on facilities for Loma Negra, the Argentine cement company, and YPF, the Argentine energy company
  • Coöperatieve Rabobank on a credit facility for Masisa, a wood products company headquartered in Chile
  • Axion Energy Argentina on an A/B loan granted by the International Finance Corporation and a group of commercial lenders


M&A:

  • Mexico’s Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico on its acquisition from Spain’s Abertis Airports of a controlling interest in Spanish company Desarrollo de Concesiones Aeroportuarias (DCA), which itself has a majority stake in MBJ Airports (“MBJA”), the operator of Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica
  • Royal & Sun Alliance on the disposal of its Latin American operations
  • Industrial & Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) on its acquisition of Standard Bank’s retail bank operations in Argentina

Conrado is a part-time Lecturer in Law at Columbia  Law School, New York.

Education and qualifications

Conrado received a law degree from the University of Buenos Aires and holds a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School.

He speaks English, Spanish and Italian.
