Picking up the pace on EMIR equivalence: European Commission adopts six new equivalence decisions
Six new equivalence decisions adopted by the Commission under EMIR have been published in the Official Journal*. The decisions relate to various aspects of the margining and other risk mitigation techniques for uncleared OTC derivative contracts. They have been made, under Article 13 of EMIR, in respect of the legal, supervisory and enforcement arrangements of Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore and the US prudential regulators. Similar decisions, relating to Japan and to the CFTC regime in the US, have already been issued.
