EU Solvency II reform: Council publishes final compromise text

After several years of a review process, including more recent negotiations between co-legislators, in December 2023 the Council of the EU and the European Parliament announced that they had reached political agreement on changes to update and improve the EU’s Solvency Directive – a cornerstone of the EU framework governing the prudential regulation of EU (re)insurers. The final compromise text implementing that agreement has now been published. This newsletter provides an overview of the proposed changes.
