Council compromise on the EU MiFID Review – What are the key points, and what happens next?

Just before Christmas, the Council of the EU reached a compromise on the EU MiFID Review proposals. This means that the Council now has agreed legislative positions on changes to MiFIR and MiFID II, ready to enter trilogues. We now expect the European Parliament to agree its negotiating position on the Level 1 texts in Q1 2023, with trilogues expected to commence in Q2 and (tentatively) to conclude in Q3.
