Deferred Prosecution Agreements: The process comes of age

June 2021 saw the conclusion of the tenth deferred prosecution agreement since the procedure was introduced in February 2014. Since then, two more agreements have been announced, although the details of the companies involved have not been disclosed. If still not exactly commonplace, DPAs are fast becoming a mainstay of corporate crime resolution. In this article we examine how the process has matured since Standard Bank Plc entered into the first DPA nearly six years ago.
