Linklaters is Top 20 employer for social mobility

Linklaters has been ranked 20th in the Top 50 employers in the UK for its efforts to tackle social mobility. The ranking appears in the inaugural Social Mobility Employer Index, a joint initiative between the Social Mobility Foundation and the UK Government’s Social Mobility Commission - conducted in partnership with the City of London Corporation.

The Index ranks the UK’s employers on the actions they are taking to ensure they are open to accessing and progressing talent from all socioeconomic backgrounds. The aim is to encourage firms to share their initiatives and progress in becoming more inclusive employers and to reveal which sectors and companies are taking the issue of social mobility most seriously.

Some of the initiatives that Linklaters have taken to improve socio-economic diversity include employment skills programmes, workshops and work experience placements for pupils at targeted local schools as well as residential programmes for high performing 16-18 year old and university-age pupils from across the UK. The firm also enters into joint initiatives and regular dialogue with clients and the wider legal community to offer access to the profession for young people from non-traditional backgrounds.

Gideon Moore, Firmwide Managing Partner, said:

“We are continually striving to cultivate a more diverse and inclusive environment at Linklaters where our colleagues feel included, empowered and supported so it is great that our efforts concerning social mobility have been recognised. We are very proud to be a Social Mobility Compact Champion but, at the same time, recognise there is much more still to do.”
