Linklaters was recognised for its high-quality work as it advised on two Africa Deal of the Year Awards announced by Project Finance International (PFI) magazine, a leading publication for global energy, and infrastructure finance news, deals and analysis.
- The US$8bn Coral South floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Mozambique won Oil & Gas Deal of the Year. The financing is Africa’s largest ever project financing deal to date. It is also the world’s first project financing of a floating LNG facility. The Linklaters team was led by partners Daniel Tyrer, Mark Russell and Francisco Ferraz de Carvalho.
- The US$4bn Nacala Corridor Rail and Port project in Mozambique and Malawi won Logistics Deal of the Year - this is the largest ever successful project financing of infrastructure development in Sub-Saharan Africa. This deal is the first in the region bringing public and private sector investment together and is unique in that it involves lending to four separate companies with five separate and different concessions with a mixture of greenfield and brownfield development.
