Court of Appeal establishes new and efficient way to bring collective actions
Until recently, collective actions could only be conducted in Singapore by way of representative proceedings with the permission of the court. However, a recent decision of the Singapore Court of Appeal has established that collective actions may also be brought by a legal entity incorporated specifically for the purpose and to which the relevant claims have been assigned. It is likely that the courts will continue to progress the jurisprudence and procedure relating to the conduct of collective actions in Singapore in future proceedings.
