Steadying the ship – HKMA gives colour on its proposed regulatory regime for crypto-assets
On 31 January 2023, the HKMA published its conclusions (“Conclusions”) to its earlier discussion paper from January 2022 on crypto-assets and stablecoins (“Discussion Paper”), giving more guidance on a proposed regulatory regime for stablecoins (“Regime”). The HKMA will soon announce a further consultation on its proposal with a view to implement the Regime at some point in 2023/2024.
