Overview

Dane is a Managing Associate (Victoria qualified) in our Litigation, Arbitration and Investigations practice, based in London. He has experience acting in competition and commercial disputes, investigations and public inquiries.

Before joining Linklaters, Dane worked at a leading law firm in Melbourne, where he acted for commercial and government clients in large scale litigation and public inquiries, including acting for state and federal regulators in enforcement of competition and consumer laws and infrastructure safety laws.

Work highlights
  • Advising a payment scheme in relation to multiple litigation proceedings brought by merchants in the Competition Appeal Tribunal alleging that multilateral interchange fees on card transactions were levied in breach of Article 101 and 102 of the TFEU (and domestic competition laws), including at trials on liability and pass-on
  • At a former firm, acting for an Australian regulator in several enforcement and penalty proceedings involving breaches of competition and consumer laws
  • At a former firm, acting for a property development and construction company in several overlapping commercial disputes
  • At a former firm, advising and conducting investigations with Australian state and federal regulators on product and infrastructure safety laws
  • At a former firm, acting for a securities trading firm in restraint and breach of confidence proceedings against former employees
  • At a former firm, acting for the police in a Royal Commission relating to alleged police misconduct and ensuing investigations and criminal and civil litigation

Education and qualifications

Dane holds a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge (Class I) and bachelors degrees in law (with Honours) and arts from Monash University.
