Overview

Diogo Barros Pereira is a Managing Associate in the Lisbon Corporate Finance Department. His recent practice has focused on advisory and transactional work in commercial law matters, being involved in the due diligence phase, the structuring of transactions and investments, the legal advice in the negotiation phase, and the assistance in closing matters and activities. 

He advises domestic and international clients, such as private equity funds, financial institutions, banks, pension funds and large corporate clients on national and cross-border issues related to Corporate/M&A, Real Estate and Private Equity matters, such as the acquisition of Portuguese companies or real estate portfolios, or foreign investment in Portugal, across a range of sectors such as the renewable energy, real estate investment, financial services, industry, retail and the infrastructure sector, working closely with colleagues of other offices in international teams on cross-border cases.
Diogo also has gained relevant experience in dispute resolution, mainly in commercial litigation.

Diogo was the youngest lawyer in Portugal in 2019 to be recognised by Chambers Europe as Associate to Watch, in Private Equity in Portugal, describing him as "very meticulous and well organised" and “adept at handling mandates relating to the financial services, infrastructure and energy industries”.

Diogo started his legal career in 2011 with the Lisbon office of Linklaters as Summer Trainee at the Tax Department. He then joined Linklaters Lisbon in 2012 as Junior Associate, and got promoted to Associate in 2015 and to Managing Associate in 2021 currently working in the Corporate Finance Department of the Lisbon office.

Diogo did a secondment in the Mainstream Corporate Department at the Singapore office of Linklaters in 2019.

 

Education and qualifications

Diogo holds a Law Degree of the Faculty of Law of the Nova University of Lisbon (2011). He then completed a University Extension Course on Forensic Law Sciences of the Faculty of Law of the Nova University of Lisbon (2012). Diogo furthermore obtained his Economics Degree at the Nova School of Business and Economics (2016).

He is a Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2015.

Diogo speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.
