Overview

Mareike is an Associate in our global Antitrust & Foreign Investment practice and based in Düsseldorf. She specialises in German and European antitrust and foreign investment control law and has significant experience in complex merger control and foreign investment proceedings in Germany and other jurisdictions globally.

Work Highlights 
  • Mercedes Benz AG: advising on the spin-off and stock exchange listing of the trucks and bus business.
  • DIF Capital Partners & EDF INVEST: advising on the sale of the gas network operator Thyssengas GmbH to the Australian investment company Macquarie.
  • Carrier Global Corporation: advising on the acquisition of Toshiba’s ownership stake in Toshiba Carrier Corporation, a joint venture air conditioning business between Carrier Global Corporation and Toshiba Corporation.
  • Canada Pension Plan Investment Board: advising on a long-term strategic partnership with Octopus Energy Group, a global clean energy tech pioneer.

Professional experience

Mareike joined Linklaters in 2021. Prior, she worked as a research associate in acquisition finance, private equity and antitrust law in international law firms from 2017 to 2020.

She is a member of the German Antitrust Law Association (Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e.V.).

Education and qualifications

Mareike studied law at the Leibniz University of Hanover and holds a Master’s degree in Corporate and Financial Law from the University of Glasgow (UK). She completed her legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main with stages in international law firms and at the Consulate General in Miami (Florida, USA).

She speaks German and English.
