Overview

I focus on legal and regulatory developments affecting debt capital markets including prospectus rules, the sustainable bond market and interest rate reform. 

Catherine is an experienced debt capital markets lawyer with significant expertise in primary market securities regulation and market practice. 

Catherine is one of our lead debt capital markets knowledge lawyers, supporting Linklaters’ London and EMEA debt capital markets teams.

Catherine is responsible for horizon scanning, thought leadership and producing client facing resources and delivering training. 

Catherine monitors regulatory and market practice developments in relation to debt capital markets and provides specialist advisory support on a wide rang  of debt capital markets transactions including green, social and sustainable use of proceeds bonds and sustainability-linked bonds.

Work Highlights

  • Catherine represents Linklaters on the ICMA Legal & Documentation Committee and is active in many of their specialist working groups for primary debt capital markets including in relation to sustainable finance.
  •  She is a leading contributor to ICMA responses to regulator consultations and advocacy on primary debt markets topics. In recent years this has included in relation to the EU and UK prospectus regimes and the EU Green Bond Standard often involving direct dialogue with key stakeholders at the FCA, HMT, ESMA, the European Commission and various EU National Competent Authorities.
  • She delivers training on the EU Green Bond Standard as part of ICMA’s Sustainable Bond Certificate.
  • She has written extensively for Linklaters’ publications on debt capital markets topics.

Professional experience

In her 20+ years of legal experience, Catherine has spent more than 10 years in the debt capital markets legal team of a leading global investment bank. She has also been seconded to the ICMA (International Capital Markets Association) regulatory policy and market practice team.

Education and qualifications

Catherine studied law with European law at the University of Nottingham, including an exchange year spent at the University of Valencia, Spain.
