Overview
Rachel is a Managing Associate in our Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations practice. She has a broad range of experience across competition, public law/judicial review disputes, commercial litigation and arbitration.
Rachel has acted on disputes before the High Court, Competition Appeal Tribunal, and Court of Appeal in England & Wales, in addition to arbitral tribunals. She has acted for clients across a range of sectors, including utilities, technology, and finance.
Work highlights
Rachel's experience includes:
- Advising a major global payments technology company on thousands of individual actions brought before the Competition Appeal Tribunal in the UK by claimants which allegedly have suffered loss as a result of alleged anti-competitive conduct.
- Defending a bank against allegations that bank employees manipulated foreign exchange markets and acted so as to trigger certain stop loss orders.
- Defending claims brought by a Chinese state-owned entity (a manufacturer of aluminium) against a European energy company, concerning a sales agreement entered into between the parties for the sale and purchase of alumina.
- Assisted a bank in application for sanctions authorisation in relation to project financing involving a liquified natural gas complex in a certain district of the Russian Federation.
- Advising a water company on judicial review of an Ofwat decision.
Defending Microsoft in collective proceedings alleging abuse of dominance in the market for cloud services.
Education and qualifications
Rachel studied Law at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge.
