Tom is a Managing Associate in our Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group and has experience across a broad range of EU & UK competition law. Tom joined the firm in March 2015.

Tom’s experience includes UK, EU and global merger control, foreign investment, competition investigations and advising clients in relation to regulated sectors. Tom’s experience crosses a number of sectors including energy and mining, financial services, technology and with a particular focus on retail.

  • Bulb Energy Limited: providing merger control and subsidy advice to Teneo as energy supply company administrators of Bulb Energy Limited.
  • Telegraph: on the merger control and public interests of the proposed sale of the Telegraph newspaper and the Spectator magazine in the UK.
  • Quantile: advising on its unconditional Phase 2 clearance with respect to its acquisition by the London Stock Exchange group.
  • JD Sports: on the CMA’s Phase 2 investigation and Remittal investigation in relation to its acquisition of Footasylum.
  • JD Sports: on its successful appeal to the Competition Appeal Tribunal overturning the CMA’s Phase 2 decision in relation to its acquisition of Footasylum.
  • JD Sports: with respect to the CMA investigations regarding the supply of Rangers and Leicester branded football kit and training wear.
  • A multi-lateral trading facility: advising on the FCA's wholesale market study in relation to benchmarks, credit rating agencies and market data vendors.
  • A cloud provider: on the Ofcom market study and CMA market investigation into cloud services.
  • Sainsbury’s: on its proposed merger with Asda and successful appeal to the Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Education and qualifications

Postgraduate Diploma in EU Competition Law from King’s College London.
