Francisco Ferraz de Carvalho is a partner in Linklaters’ Global Energy and Infrastructure Group and is Head of Banking and Projects in Portugal. Francisco’s practice focuses in banking, project finance and structured products, especially in energy and infrastructure, where he has advised sponsors, lenders and public authorities. He also has considerable experience in banking, general finance and capital markets. Over the last years, Francisco has concentrated his experience in Lusophone Africa, notably Mozambique, Angola and Cape Verde.

  • Advising on the negotiations of unitization of two offshore blocks in the North of Mozambique between two operators and the Government of Mozambique
  • Advising Aggreko in two ground-breaking schemes involving the construction and operation of interim power plant supplying power to Eskom, the South African power company and Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), the Mozambique power utility and Nampower, the Namibian utility
  • Advising the lenders on first in country hybrid project financing of the construction and operation of a shopping centre in Luanda, Angola
  • Advising the China Development Bank on three bilateral financings amounting to over two billion USD to EDP, Electricidade de Portugal, the Portuguese utility, REN, the Portuguese grid operator, and to Portuguese bank Banco Espírito Santo
  • Advising the African Development Bank and the European Investment Bank on a first in country project financing of a wind farm in Cape Verde.
