Overview
Jennifer is an Associate in our Belgian Employment and Incentives Practice. She was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2016.
Jennifer advises clients on the full range of labour, employment and incentive matters and assists clients before court. Her areas of expertise include high-stake (cross-border) restructuring projects, collective dismissals and closure of undertakings, incentives and executive compensation (including in regulated sectors such as the banking sector), internal investigations and complex employment litigation.
Jennifer graduated from VUB in 2016. After working for three years at Linklaters, she obtained her LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley (Fulbright, BAEF and Rotary fellow) in 2020. She joined Linklaters’ Employment and Incentives Practice again thereafter.
In addition, she is affiliated to the Education Board for the Social Law Faculty and academic researcher at VUB. Jennifer also publishes in industry journals and regularly speaks at seminars.
Work highlights
- Advising BEL20 listed companies on complex incentives and executive remuneration queries, including setting up, documenting and implementing incentive plans in Belgium and globally
- Advising several companies in regulated sectors (e.g. banking and energy sector) on sensitive matters such as termination of C-level executives, change of status from employee to self-employed, HR implications of the New Companies Code, benefits and restructurings
- Representing an automotive company on multiple litigations involving 196 blue collar workers who claimed white-collar status in court and assisting in subsequent settlement negotiations
- Advising Elia System Operator on all employment aspects related to its internal reorganisation project aimed at isolating and ring-fencing the Belgian regulated activities of Elia from its non-regulated activities
Professional experience
Jennifer joined the Employment & Incentive Practice at Linklaters in 2016.
She has been affiliated to the VUB as a member of the Education Board for the Social Law Faculty and as a voluntary academic researcher as from 2017.
Education and qualifications
Jennifer holds an LL.M from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Laws from the VUB.
She is currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Pension Law at the Catholic University of Leuven.
She works on a daily basis in Dutch, French and English, as well as occasionally in Spanish.
