Overview

Jess is a partner in the Corporate and Structured Lending Group based in London, specialising in real estate finance.  She represents global real estate investors and developers, private equity real estate, CRE clearers and real estate debt funds.

Jess has experience of contingency planning, debt restructurings and distressed debt activity and was seconded to The Royal Bank of Scotland’s Global Restructuring Group in 2009 to work on their distressed CRE loan book and followed on to a further secondment in 2011 to Blackstone’s BREDA advising the team on the work-out of the Isobel loan portfolio.

Jess is recognised as a Leading Individual by Legal 500.

Work highlights

Jess has led, or has been a key advisor, on many real estate finance transactions. These include:

  • Värde Partners on the financing of the pan-European Dedica hotel portfolio, a landmark transaction for both the real estate and the secured bond markets as one of the largest debt finance deals completed by an alternative debt provider in Italy
  • Barings and MassMututal as co-arrangers on the financing of the development of and investment in the Los Gavilanes Business Park in Getafe, Madrid for Palm Capital and Davidson Kempner
  • Oxford Properties on the financing of its £425m acquisition of Victoria House, Bloomsbury for repositioning as a life sciences scheme
  • Rothesay Life providing a £180m senior loan to Korean buyers of Blackstone’s investment in the Sanctuary Buildings in Victoria, SW1
  • Kennedy Wilson on its financing of Vantage, a 442 multifamily unit scheme plus commercial space in Dublin, Ireland
  • PATRIZIA on the financing of the acquisition of a EUR 130 million project to develop rental apartments in Greater Dublin, Ireland
     

Professional experience

Jess is a member of the LMA green and sustainable finance group and has chaired a number of ESG related seminars hosted by the LMA and for clients.  She is a member of CREFCE and the LMA.

Education and qualifications

Jess holds a PGDL and LPC from BPP Law School and College of Law respectively.  Jess also holds an MA (Hons) in Politics and Spanish from Edinburgh University.
