Overview

Lauri is an associate in the Energy and Infrastructure Group at Linklaters, representing lenders and sponsors in renewable energy and infrastructure project development and financing transactions. He also has experience in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, including energy disputes, and commercial litigation before US federal and state courts.

Before joining Linklaters, Lauri represented lenders and sponsors in renewable energy and infrastructure project development and financing transactions at another global law firm.

Work highlights

  • Plenitude through its U.S. subsidiary, Eni New Energy U.S. Inc.: representation in connection with its purchase from EDP Renewables North America LLC of an 80% cash equity interest in a portfolio of three operational solar photovoltaic plants located in Texas and Ohio with an aggregate capacity of 340 MW.
  • The sponsor: representation in connection with its purchase of 100% of the equity interests in (a) a 75MWac solar PV power generating facility in South Carolina, and (b) a 100MWac solar PV power generating facility in Michigan.
  • The developer: representation in connection with its sale to an Asian investor of 100% of the equity interests in a 125MWac solar PV power generating facility in Texas.
  • Clean Energy Future-Trumbull, LLC: representation in connection with a US$600 million senior secured term loan to fund the construction and operation of an approximately 950 MW natural gas-fired electric combined-cycle power generation facility located in the Village of Lordstown, Trumbull County, Ohio. The financing was awarded the Power Deal of the Year by IJ Global 2022.
  • Talen Energy Corporation and its subsidiary Cumulus Growth Holdings LLC: representation in connection with a senior secured US$175 million term loan to fund the construction and operation of the Cumulus hyper-scale data center campus and the bitcoin joint venture known as Nautilus Cryptomine.
  • The lenders: representation in connection with a US$464 million construction loan and tax equity bridge loan financing of four utility-scale solar power plants located in North and South Carolina.
  • The lenders: representation in connection with a US$127 million construction loan, term loan, and tax equity bridge loan financing of two utility-scale solar power plants located in North and South Carolina.
  • The lenders: representation in connection with a US$122 million construction and tax equity loan for a 103.3 MWdc utility-scale solar power plant with a 72 MWh zinc-based battery energy storage system in South Carolina.
  • The lenders: representation in connection with a US$300 million term loan refinancing of a commercial and industrial solar power plant portfolio.

Education and qualifications

Lauri studied political science and philosophy at University of Maryland and received his Juris Doctorate from William & Mary Law School.
