Overview

So Yeon has extensive experience advising clients operating in various sectors on a wide range of commercial transactions, including in the context of their most business-critical and complex technology arrangements.

So Yeon has a particular interest in telecoms and digital infrastructure transactions and brings her expertise to such projects across various jurisdictions and to the growing number of digital infrastructure assets, including towers, fibre, satellites, data centres and outdoor media infrastructure. She regularly advises on arrangements including those that relate to infrastructure sharing and related servicing arrangements on such projects.

So Yeon also advises on large scale technology transactions for customers and suppliers, including outsourcings, system development and servicing arrangements. She advises a variety of clients on such projects, with a particular focus on clients in the financial services sector which also expands her practice into fintech transactions.

So Yeon also advises on the technology and separation aspects of M&A transactions, including those involving complex carve-outs.

So Yeon is the Group Trainee Solicitor Counsel for the London TMT/IP practice and has oversight of all aspects of the training and support of trainees within the practice. 

Work highlights

So Yeon has advised a wide range of clients on technology and outsourcing arrangements. These include advising:

  • Vodafone on its infrastructure sharing and servicing arrangements relating to the merger of its tower infrastructure assets in Greece, its broader tower demerger across Europe, and its subsequent strategic partnership with a consortium of long-term infrastructure investors
  • Orange on its infrastructure rollout and servicing arrangements in the context of its joint venture with APG for the establishment of a fibre company in Poland
  • Vodeno on its innovative agile cloud agreement with NatWest for the delivery of BaaS services to UK customers
  • a leading provider of professional medical negligence insurance on the design, build and maintenance of its new membership and case management systems
  • a consortium of financial institutions on their technology project to design and build a new trading platform
  • a number of European banks on their business-critical long-term strategic arrangements for the referral and distribution of products and services following the disposal of their merchant acquiring business

Professional experience

So Yeon is passionate about increasing and promoting diversity within the legal profession. In addition to her role as Group Trainee Solicitor Counsel, she is heavily involved with the firm’s graduate recruitment programme, and also attends professional women’s networking events. 

Education and qualifications

So Yeon obtained her Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Science (Psychology) (Hons) and her Master of Laws from Sydney University.
