Overview

William advises on a wide range of international capital markets transactions, with a particular focus on structured finance products, including repackaging and securitisation, OTC derivatives covering all asset classes, repo and securities lending, standalone bond issues and MTN programmes, as well as hybrid instruments such as convertibles and exchangeables.

William has extensive international experience having worked in the firm’s offices in London (from 2006 to 2010) and seconded to the firm’s offices in Singapore (for six months in 2008), Moscow (from 2010 to 2012) and New York (for six months in 2017).

Work highlights

William has advised on many market-leading capital markets deals. Highlights that can be disclosed include advising:

  • the joint bookrunners and hedge counterparties on the issue by adidas of its €500m 0.05% equity-neutral convertible bonds
  • the offer and tender agents on the issuance of €10.3bn zero coupon bonds in connection with tender and exchange offers for instruments of HETA Asset Resolution AG, a key component of IFLR’s restructuring deal of the year
  • Barry Callebaut, the world's leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, on its debut placement of €600m Schuldschein loans
  • the joint bookrunners and hedge counterparties on the issue by BASF of its USD 600m bonds with warrants units
  • the European Commission in producing, together with Boston Consulting Group, a study on the economic and regulatory barriers to the private placement of debt in the European Union
  • Syngenta and Vier Gas Transport on numerous issue of notes under their respective MTN programmes

Education and qualifications

William studied law at University College London.
